对于甲状腺癌来说，特别是现在，临床上碰到的更多的是一些一公分以内的微小癌。比较小的、且明确是分化预后比较好的部分甲状腺微小癌，是可以暂时不做手术的。对于早期的甲状腺病变治疗来说，把神经保护和甲状旁腺功能保护好了，对病人应该没有太大的影响；但切的范围大，可能会导致病人需要长期服用甲状腺素、优甲乐这些药物。对于局部偏晚的病变，因为手术更加困难，临床医生就要根据病人的个体情况选择合适的治疗方案，让病人的生活质量能维持得更好。
