自2026年年中开始，雅思考试将在全球范围内陆续停止纸笔考试，全部采用机考。中国大陆地区的雅思考试（IELTS）将于9月1日起停止纸笔考试、全部采用机考形式。用于英国签证及移民的雅思考试（IELTS for UKVI）将于7月1日起停止纸笔考试、全部采用机考形式。

官网显示，自1989年诞生以来，雅思考试（IELTS）已发展为全球最具公信力的国际英语测评标准之一，覆盖140多个国家和地区，获得超过12,500家院校、机构认可。目前，英国文化教育协会是目前中国大陆唯一经教育部批准的官方雅思考试提供方。
